From stevedoring to storage, reprocessing to dispatch, we can offer you a comprehensive range of services to improve efficiency and add value to your supply chain.
Our facilities at Clydeport are close to Scotland’s major forest product importers, and next to the population centre of Glasgow. Our multi-modal connectivity gives us excellent links to motorway, rail and sea networks, maximising water transport and minimising use of roads. This will give both you and your customers a more efficient, cost-effective and environmentally responsible way to deal with pulp, paper and timber.
Whether your bulk liquids are fuels, oils, fats, additives or acids, at Hunterston in Clydeport, we have the space, knowledge and infrastructure to help you design and build the perfect facilities on site. We offer fast, easy distribution of metals throughout Scotland from our specialised ports in KGV and Greenock. Both benefit from deep water docking with exceptional efficiency and productivity in vessel loading, unloading and turnaround times. These ports also have specialist handling expertise with one system, one invoice and one point of contact.
We have the flexibility for both long and short-term storage in 18 acres of outside space for metals, which includes 13 acres right next to a deep water berth. So whatever your metal handling needs, you can be confident we have the mettle to meet your requirements.
Here at Clydeport we love a challenge. And the bigger the better. Whether you’re delivering the kind of load that’s just too big or too heavy to be shipped through normal channels or simply want to grow the volume of goods you’re moving through UK ports, our Project cargo service can handle it.
This service has been developed to deal with cargo that varies from the normal to the abnormally large and excessively heavy. For us, these jobs aren’t a problem, they’re an opportunity to provide the perfect solution. A service that handles everything from power station transformers to large silos and even wind turbines.
Project cargo always delivers, whatever the job.
Location is everything and KGV is one of the closest RoRo ports for the majority of the UK and Ireland’s cargo. This huge demand has allowed the port’s workforce to develop unrivalled handling skills and means they’re expertly trained in everything from driving and loading to precision parking.
We also have a vast knowledge of inspections, auditing, ISPS requirements, and safety protocols to support our RoRo services. Driven by efficiency, our roll on roll off facilities offer high speed ship turnarounds to maximise profits and minimise delays.

SOLAS container weighing
From July 2016, an amendment to the SOLAS Convention will require every loaded export container ship to have its weight verified before it’s loaded on to a ship.
With all containers converging on ports to be loaded on ships, terminals have been suggested as the most logical point in the supply chain to weigh boxes. Clydeport has undertaken a lengthy consultation process with the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) and its customers to develop a system that will help avoid potential export disruption for exporters. Clydeport will have the ability to weigh all containers as pert of an in-process weighing scheme, which will not impact on productivity.
Container shipping and logistics
At Greenock, when it comes to containers, we tick all the right boxes for our customers. Of course we load, unload and store their goods in the safest, most efficient, most cost-effective way. But that’s only half the story. The other half involves booking systems, flexibility, repair, reliability, management and added value. Whatever the box…whatever the cargo.
