Port Direct Newsletter

April 2024

Welcome to the new edition of the Port Direct newsletter, we hope you enjoy reading our latest containerised cargo news and updates.

The Compleat Food Group visit the Port of Liverpool

Earlier this month, we welcomed the Compleat Food Group to the Port of Liverpool. Compleat currently bring over 1000 Reefer units into the UK and have now pledged their volume to the Port of Liverpool with their operation distribution centers based locally in Knowsley and Leyland.

The company sees this move bringing major benefits to their supply chain in terms of proximity (less disruption), potential EV final mile delivery as well as the natural CO2 reduction benefits of arriving into the Port of Liverpool.

Hapag-Lloyd’s unwavering support of the Port of Liverpool

During a recent visit, Hapag-Lloyd reaffirmed their longstanding commitment to the Port of Liverpool. Representatives enjoyed an extensive tour of the port facilities and took part in detailed discussions as to how the Port of Liverpool can simplify customer supply chains and support Hapag Lloyds ambitions to be the undisputed number one for quality.

The conversation sparked discussion on how discharging containers nearer to their end destination and avoiding congested road and rail network removes risk from the transportation process and presents significant opportunities for supply chain improvements.

Additionally, simplified Irish Sea connectivity and optimised equipment flow will also ensure containers are available where and when customers need them.
