- Port Salford also won New Facility category -
Peel Ports has scooped the Editor Choice’s accolade at the 2016 SHD Logistics awards in Birmingham. The award recognises a particular organisation or project that catches the eye of Editor Peter Macleod from leading companies within the logistics and supply chain sectors.
The company had been shortlisted in three categories - Innovation, Large Company and Growth – for its Liverpool2 container development and multi-user warehousing operation.
Peel Ports also had a direct interest in the New Facility win for Culina and General Mills, having worked with both to develop the Port Salford warehousing and distribution centre, connected with Liverpool via the Manchester Ship Canal.
Attended by 500 industry peers at the Vox Centre venue, part of the Resorts World Birmingham leisure complex near NEC, the SHD Logistics Awards celebrates best practice and excellence through the logistics industry.
David Huck, Director at Peel Ports, said: “Our aim is always to be at the forefront of innovative customer solutions through the alignment of our people, processes and technology. But it’s also great to have the Peel Ports team’s hard work recognised, so we’re honoured to have been chosen for the Editor’s Choice award.
“Our efforts over several years to provide broader logistics solutions are now adding significant value to our growing customers and are hugely appreciated by them. While our unique network of ports remains the backbone of our operation, we’re increasingly becoming a leading integrated supply chain provider, not just somewhere to go for loading and unloading cargo.”
The SHD Logistics Awards take place during the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) in Birmingham. IMHX is the UK's largest intralogistics event which connects tens of thousands of supply chain professionals with over 450 exhibitors every three years.
