In 2010, Regatta, one of the great names in clothing for the great outdoors, contacted Peel Ports, one of the UK’s leading names in container shipping. Until then, the company had imported their goods from the Far East, via Southern UK ports. Their problem was that they were based in the North West, which meant bringing cargo up to their national distribution centre by rail and road. They needed a more efficient and greener supply chain. They needed Peel Ports.
We showed them that we were perfectly located to give them the ideal supply chain. By importing most of their cargo now directly to Liverpool from the Far East, via feeder services, their dependence on road and rail is significantly reduced. What’s more, they’re currently trialling our Manchester Ship Canal Green Highway Shuttle direct to their new Ellesmere Port distribution centre, giving them a more cost-effective, greener solution.
With Peel Ports, Regatta now has more than just a transportation service that makes life easier. We’re giving them exactly the kind of added-value partnership the company was hoping for.
- Volumes via Liverpool tripled in 2 years to 3,000 TEU
- Growth across brands Regatta, Craghopper and Dare2B
- Growth in export to 54 countries worldwide
- Growth in environmental, sustainable and ethical operations
- Winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade 2012
