Future proofing forest products

Jason Mayor, Group Business Development Manager

I joined Peel Ports Group as a Business Development Manager in late 2018 with an opportunity to grow our impressive offering across forest, timber and paper products throughout our UK sites. I am excited to be joining a market leading company, such as Peel Ports, where my passion for delivering outstanding customer service within a business focused on delivery growth can be realised.

I came to Peel Ports from M Wheels Ltd, a commercial company that supplies both steel and alloy wheels. I am a professional team leader with extensive commercial experience in strategy and planning in the automotive and logistics sectors, and I have held leadership positions in an array of global market-leading international organisations such as: Michelin Tyres, Continental Tyre Group, ATS Euromaster, Carrier Transicold Ltd and Freightlink Solutions Ltd. Customer management has been integral to my success, reflected in my proven track record in customer satisfaction, retention and growth.

In my new role as Group Business Development Manager, I am responsible for the group offering on forest, timber and paper products, providing customers with opportunities to bring their products closer to their end destination.  By going above and beyond to help customers unlock value in their supply chain, I believe that Forest Products not only help our customers, but also help to grow the business.

This is because the comprehensive range of Forest Product services available – from stevedoring to storage, reprocessing to dispatch - all providing tailored solutions to improve efficiency. Furthermore, our east and west coast ports, located in both the south and north of the UK provide ideal locations in close proximity to the UK’s most prominent forest product importers, including  London, North-West England and Glasgow. Our connectivity network is far-reaching, providing customers with an efficient, economic and environmentally responsible way to handle pulp, paper and timber. All of these factors together help to grow and develop a business.

My goal is to develop our offer into a market leading proposition, developing innovative end to end solutions to satisfy all customer requirements. I hope to develop long term, sustainable relationships and solutions that allow Peel Ports to develop as market needs evolve.

In my spare time I have my work cut out trying to stay up to date with the latest trends in the music, make up and clothing of my two daughters, aged eleven and nine.  I have recently moved back to my home town of Burnley after spending 16 years living in the village of Haworth. I am an avid lifelong supporter of Burnley FC, and I enjoy sharing in the roller coaster experience that is part of following a local team. In my spare time, I love spending time with family, cycling and running. I am currently training for a charity cycle across UK and Europe in aid of Prostate Cancer.
